Behind the pictures

Alice in Wonderland is a classic of world literature in terms of both literature and graphics. This thesis focuses on the hidden artistic aspects, which are brought to light by means of the text and illustrations. The core of the analysis were the classic illustrations by John Tenniel, as well as modern approaches of book illustration. In the practical section an Alice in Wonderland book was set and illustrated. During this process, typography and illustration were experimented with in order to give depth to the absurdities of the story, and emphasize them.
