In this day and age the picture book is an undervalued medium. But there is much more in it than a nicely packaged, child-friendly story. What exactly makes a children’s book and how is it created? This bachelor’s thesis by Nina Friedl forms a guideline about what is needed to design a book for children. In addition, the educational backgrounds are explained and well-known book examples are presented. By using these guidelines the author produced a picture book for children, which she herself texted and illustrated.
