Still life is a genre that is already several centuries old, but today it is still as mean-ingful as at its inception. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis by Lisa Neureiter is to give an overview of the still life ‘universe’ and to find out upon what its fascination is based. It explores the painterly as well as the photo-graphic history of this genre and points out the question about its identity.
This exploration should help designers to better understand images that imply any kind of still life motif, in order to be able to successfully communicate the desired message, or it provides the basic theory for the creation of one’s own photographic still life.
